Peter Drucker Dies

Drucker Author, professor, essayist, lecturer, guru, and "Father of Modern Management" Peter Drucker died on Friday at the age of 95.  His sphere of expertise ranged from management to politics to art to philosophy.  He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bush in 2002.

"He is purely and simply the most important developer of effective management and of effective public policy in the 20th century," former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Friday. "In the more than 30 years that I've studied him, talked with him and learned from him, he has been invaluable and irreplaceable."

Drucker's management work dates back to the 40's, when he first investigated GM's operations.  His writings stayed relevant straight through to the new millennium - he published Management Challenges for the 21st Century in 2001.

The Claremont Institute has reprinted an interview with Drucker from the 1984 that resonates equally poignantly today.
