Empire State Building Run-Up
Tomorrow, I'll be participating in the Bank of America/New York Road Runners race to the top of the Empire State Building. With impeccable timing, I've managed to come down with a fairly miserable head cold, so time will tell whether I'm quite equal to the task. But it should be a fun event nonetheless.
Judging by the off-and-on training I've been doing in the stairwell of my apartment building, the primary physical conditioning required of competitive skyscraper climbing appears to be keeping your heart from literally punching through your rib cage and bursting out of your chest.
I'm planning on bringing a keychain digicam tethered to the draw string of my shorts, so if no one confiscates it, I hope to be able to post some pics from along the "course" by the end of the day.
Update: Even deeper under the weather today. Had to scratch. A decided bummer as I had to submit a lengthy evaluative application months ago for this event. The upside: no exothoracic cardiac episodes.
