Gitmo Study Blogswarm
Captain Ed is organizing a distributed blog-based effort to review recently released Department of Defense data on Guantanamo Bay detainees, in response to a study conducted at the direction of a lawyer representing two of the detainees. The study claims, among other things, that a majority of the 517 combatants being held at Gitmo "are not determined to have committed any hostile acts against the United States or its coalition allies."
Given the interests of the sponsor of the study, some additional review seems healthy, to see if the statistics stand up. And given the thousands of pages that comprise the release, you can't blame Ed for reaching out to the blogosphere for a little help.
I'm looking forward to getting my assignment headlong into my review now. Keeping would-be terrorist freers honest seems like as good a way as any to spend a Sunday evening when nothing remotely worth watching is on TV.
You can volunteer by e-mailing Ed with the subject header "Gitmo Project".
