Mad Murtha Monday: Liveblog (Or Maybe Videoblog (Or Maybe Podcast))
Depending on what kind of equipment I can drag in (and contingent upon my not being escorted out when I trip the gopometer), there will be some manner of special treat on this page come Monday afternoon.
My Congresswoman, Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), is hosting a townhall meeting on the Iraq War, with "Special Guest Congressman John Murtha, a highly decorated veteran who served 37 years in the Marine Corps and authored the House Resolution Calling for U.S. Forces to leave Iraq."
For those of you keeping score at home, that was the resolution that was followed the next day by a Republican-induced vote of 403-3 against surrender. Not even Murtha himself voted for it (but guess who did...).
Given the political distribution of the district (Maloney hauled in a whopping 81% of the vote in 2004), I expect the Kut n' Run King to speak rather unabashedly, presumably confident that none of the handful of Manhattan Republicans would darken the door of such an event.
But darken, I shall. And there's a rumor I may be joined by The Man himself.
In all seriousness, it should be a very interesting event. I just hope they're willing to engage with the minority. As always, any questions you'd like to see asked are hereby solicited, by comment or e-mail.
