New Black Panthers Want To Kill Cops

"Freedom or death."

Protesting in the Queens neighborhood of Sean Bell (the 23-year-old who was killed last week outside a strip club in the wee hours of his wedding day by police gunfire), the New Black Panther Party staged a "March of Outrage" yesterday.  Among their protest messages were "Death to the pigs" and "Shoot back."

The protesters marched to the 103rd Precinct, where only a metal barricade separated them from a row of police officers.

The demonstrators taunted the police, standing just inches away and daring the officers to lay a hand on them.

How is this productive?  The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, but let's stipulate that it was excessive.  For sake of argument, let's even stipulate that it was malicious.  Inciting riotous and deadly violence hardly seems like a sane response by any group whose aim is not simply anarchy for anarchy's sake.

The New Black Panthers are an extremist group, which favors freeing all black criminals held in any American prison and assembling "Black Liberation Armies" to counter police harrassment.  Despite pining for widespread rebellion to shed the shackles of white America, they'd also like the "devilish and decadent American society" (which created AIDS in a laboratory and unleashed it in the 1970s to eradicate undesirables) to afford blacks universal employment guarantees, full tax exemption, and "billions of dollars" in reparations and other compensation.  The New Black Panthers are also a rabidly anti-semitic group, who believe Jews were behind the 9/11 attacks.  Chairman Malik Zulu Zhabazz isn't shy about his preferred remedy: "Kill every goddamn Zionist in Israel!  Goddamn little babies, goddamn old ladies!  Blow up Zionist supermarkets!"

A number of New York City Councilmembers are fanning the flames of racial divide that the New Black Panthers are currently lighting.

Councilwoman Helen Foster says, point blank, that Sean Bell's death was a "racist" act. Councilman Al Vann bemoans "institutional racism." Councilman Charles Barron, taking the prize for recklessness, insists blacks "are being murdered" by cops.

Not content to incite further outrage, Barron swipes at colleagues who dare put faith in the investigative process.

Barron - a fierce critic of the NYPD - is attacking fellow black Councilman Tom White for expressing confidence in the authorities investigating the shooting death of Sean Bell by undercover cops.

"He's out of touch with his community," fumed Barron on NY1 last week after White said officials were "moving in the right direction."

In a later interview, Barron ripped Malcolm Smith, incoming Democratic leader of the state Senate.

"People like Malcolm Smith and Tom White, who we don't normally see on these issues, are now trying to provide leadership and they could misguide our community if they don't listen to those of us who are veterans of this."

One Queens official said the Barron-White split is indicative of deeper tensions over turf and political outlook between moderate black leaders and activists pushing them to "be more militant than they feel comfortable."

If the anti-semitic black supremacists of the New Black Panther Party set the standard for activism, it's hard to fault White and other black leaders for such discomfort.
