Versace Tells Hillary To Ditch the Pantsuit
Designer Donatella Versace offers some couture advice to the lone woman among the Presidential hopefuls.
U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton should tap into her feminine side and wear dresses and skirts instead of trousers, fashion designer Donatella Versace was quoted as saying on Thursday.
"I can understand (trousers) are comfortable but she's a woman and she is allowed to show that," Versace told Germany's weekly newspaper Die Zeit in an interview.
"She should treat femininity as an opportunity and not try to emulate masculinity in politics," Versace said.
Everything I know about Donnatella Versace I know from Maya Rudolph's impression of her on SNL, specifically the sketch in which a semi-drugged Donnatella advertises "Versace Pockets" (designer Hot Pockets that come individually wrapped in diamond totes). Comedy gold.
I have to picture the actual Donnatella in a similarly addled state of mind in making this recommendation, as the world is still recovering from our recent shock dose of Clintonian femininity, when we were subjected to her "sexual power which some people still consider too threatening."
