France has not been a friend to the U.S. since before their Vichy govt! Maybe this is the beginning of a new friendship. I won't hold my breath, but I will hold out hope.Posted by: RC | May 7, 2007 3:33:55 PM
Let us hope the new French President Sarkozy will be pro-America Because some French firms had some investments in helping both Iraq and Iran in their nuclear armament agendas, their government had been reluctant in joining hands with the Americans to fight international terrorist. It seems they have short memories. They forgot how Nazi Germany during World War 2 nearly exterminated them in a couple of years. It was the Americans who came and rescued them and helped them through “Marshal plan” to rebuild their country and economy to what it is today. They owe America big because without America and if the Nazis had won the war, probably there will be no France today. Let us hope that the new French President Sarkozy though a conservative hardliner, will be pro-America and will recognize the wisdom of joining America and Britain to fight to crush this new plague which is haunting America and the world in general.
