7 Days, 700 Points
Fueled by the multiple doses of encouraging economic news out this morning, the equity markets resumed the monster rally they mounted last week, with the major indices all adding well over 1% for the day.
As of the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average sat at 13,445, more than 700 points above the lowest of the November lows, set just 7 sessions ago. That's the best 7-day streak in 4.5 years.
And with oil prices falling and more than 800 points still overhead before we get back into record Dow territory, the general ebullience just might endure through the week, assuming investors can keep from getting overexcited in advance of the Labor report on Friday and the Fed decision on Tuesday (which is probably a bad assumption).
