Ellen and Jenna Bush's Phone Call To First Parents Legit

Ellen Naturally, Jenna Bush's appearance on "Ellen" yesterday, during which Ellen convinced her to ring the White House and try to get her parents on speakerphone (which she succeeded in doing), prompted some bloggers  to cry setup.

But the First Lady, her communications director, and an aide who answered the call all affirm it was unscripted.

"Absolutely not," said Sally McDonough, the first lady's communication director, when asked if the call was staged.

"I was completely surprised," said Lindsey Lineweaver, Mrs. Bush's personal aide, who took Jenna's call Tuesday, and was heard briefly on the program.

It sure did seem like a genuinely sweet and syrupy moment and even elicited some awws from the audience.

I think my favorite part is the fact that one of the people who route incoming calls at the White House is named Lineweaver.
