Super Tuesday Forecast: Beautifully Inclement

Mitt Romney may be looking at a Gaia-led boost tomorrow, with most of the country bracing for foul weather.  Democrats can't be bothered to vote when it rains [pdf], so it stands to reason that the more left-leaning factions of the GOP and the Democrat/Independent crossovers (i.e. McCain's bloc) might sit home in greater numbers than the conservative base.

South

Unseasonably (and potentially record-setting) warm temperatures and thunderstorms are expected, some of which will be severe with damaging winds, hail, and a few tornadoes possible. The risk of severe is greater tomorrow, particularly in the Lower Mississippi Valley, where heavy rain will also be a threat as a strong cold front and upper level trough move through the region.

Midwest

Tomorrow, the risk of severe storms is greater in the Ohio Valley, along with locally heavy rainfall; farther north, snow showers are possible over the Upper Mississippi Valley.

All of this is being brought by a strong cold front moving through the region along with an upper level trough.

While the Pacific Northwest catches a slight break in the weather today, a new system will move ashore tomorrow bringing rain and snow (above about 2000 feet) to Washington and Oregon.

Northeast

Warm air will surge northward tomorrow, pushing the wintry precipitation to Northern New England with rain elsewhere.

With the exception of the stubbornly fair-skied California, the scattered pockets of predicted clear weather (e.g. Georgia, Montana, Utah) are mainly confined to states where Romney needs a lot less help.
