Michelle Obama's "Whitey" Video Drops Monday Morning?
A couple weeks ago, a tantalizing, but dubious rumor surfaced about the existence of a videotape of Michelle Obama delivering an anti-"Whitey" rant at Trinity United Church (the Church that Obama finally threw under the bus yesterday, now that a sufficient number of years of evidence of its craziness have piled up to convince him to take an inspiringly principled stand against it).
Larry Johnson, the same person who originated the tale of Michelle's tape, now says he'll post "new and dramatic" news about the video tomorrow morning by 9 am.
It's worth noting that Johnson (former CIA analyst and self-appointed Valerie Plame affair go-to guy) is a devout, latter-day Clintonista and makes it fairly clear on his blog he'd like nothing better than to take Obama down. He doesn't claim to have access to or even to have viewed the tape, but rather that he learned of it through conversations with Republican insiders and an unnamed billionaire Republican who'd offered $1 million for the tape.
So let's keep this one in the dubious rumor for the time being. But the explosiveness of such a tape, were it to exist, earns the rumor a bit of attention nonetheless, especially since Johnson has put a very short time frame on it. On "new and dramatic" news about it, anyway.
Admittedly, the timing is interesting. Two things have just happened - the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee gave Hillary a few delegates from Michigan and Florida. Of course she deserved none, if you want to play by "the rules" but Harold Ickes and the rest of the Clinton team are screaming about the travesty of being denied their full slates and vowing to take it to the credentials committee at the convention in Denver. Despite the flailing and wailing, the upshot is that the Clinton campaign's hail Mary pass just went incomplete. And Obama's inevitability just became all the more inevitable. So it would be decent timing for a devastating tape in Republican hands to suddenly see the light of day.
The other thing that just happened, of course, was Obama's resignation from the church. The timing of that is more likely related to the Pflegler videos, but if the Whitey video does exist (and assuming he's aware of the rumors of its surfacing), this might be a decent time to put a little more daylight between himself (not to mention his wife) and the church where she ostensibly gave the dissertation.
Be sure to check out Johnson's blog tomorrow morning for the "new and dramatic" update.
Update: Per Larwyn, legendary GOP operative and unapologetically accomplished dirty tricktser Roger Stone told Geraldo on Fox News this afternoon that the Whitey video is now in the hands of a TV network.
Maybe Johnson's got it straight after all.

Update: There's the video of Stone's appearance. Transcript after the jump, via Doug Ross.
Update: Larry Johnon's got nothing new or stunning in his post this morning after all. And he wasn't merely predicting a third party would release the tape (or official word of it) by 9 am, he was calling his own swing - pledging to unveil new and stunning developments about it himself by 9 am. Sounds like he's just looking to keep the buzz at a fever pitch. That doesn't mean the tape doesn't exist (there are murmurs that Cavuto might be the one who has it - his show airs at 4 pm), but it does suggest Johnson doesn't have any more information about it. As is, he's quoting "sources who have spoken directly with people who have seen the tape." That's a few too many links in an anonymous chain for this to rise above the level of dubious (albeit increasingly well-trafficked) rumor.
RS: Well, uh, there's a buzz, that I believe now to be credible, that some indelible records exists of public remarks that Michelle Obama allegedly made, which are outrageous at worst... er, at best, but... uh... could be termed racist, including some... uh, uh... reference to white people as "whiteys", allegedly. And there's been a race here, Geraldo --
GR: Now wait a sec, wait a second... you can't... Roger, you can't just say that... and say you have no proof for...
RS: No, no. Let me finish. There's a race here between the... uh... Clinton research people, who are seeking this tape, and the Republican opposition researchers at the Republican National Committee. I now believe a network has this tape and believe that reliably and something like that could roil the race, which explains why, to me, Hillary Clinton is staying in this race. What other reason is there for her to stay in this race, other than hoping there is a bomb, and high level Clinton operatives say there is a bomb, of this nature? I have heard that from people I believe to be credible.
GR: Okay... hold it... hold it there... okay... we... we hear that you heard it. Let me go to Michael Brown for his response, and let me say that Roger Stone was the person who said that New York Governor Eliot Spitzer was using the services of prostitutes... at least in that incendiary allegation there was [sic] some facts behind that...
RS: There really has little to do with the general election yet, and more to do with Hillary Clinton staying in the race. At least seven news organizations have contacted me wanting to know how to get their hands on the tape, and giving me more information that I had after I'd spoken to each one of them! I now believe the tape exists; and I believe a network has it... if this pans out to be true based upon Michelle Obama's previous comment that this was the first time she had been proud of her country... which I think shows an attitude... it's problematic...

Some of the regulars are pointing out that Larwyn does not use upper case like that. The posting could be a false flag by someone trading on her name.Posted by: JustADude | Jun 1, 2008 4:02:44 PM
Looking in e-mail archives, Larwyn regularly uses upper case (more often than not).Posted by: Flip | Jun 1, 2008 4:07:20 PM
Looks like she came back on JOM an vouched for the info. Well I guess tomorrow will tell. I also saw the mention of the TV appearance on a couple of other blogs and the guy claiming it is coming is the same one who broke the Spitzer scandal.Posted by: JustADude | Jun 1, 2008 6:10:53 PM
The white power structure will use any dirty trick and lie to stop Barack Obama from being the next American President. http://african-in-america.blogspot.comPosted by: Truth First | Jun 1, 2008 9:18:29 PM
The tape exists but we won't see it becasue MSNBC has it and Chris Matthews is sitting on it.Posted by: Rick | Jun 2, 2008 12:26:35 PM
"The white power structure"... aw come on. That's just fancy talk for 'Whitey'.Posted by: commenter | Jun 2, 2008 3:49:33 PM
So, nothing came out today. There's nothing. Clinton would have brought it out already if there was. Seriously, it's time to drop the whole idea of a "whitey" tape and quit looking like an idiot.Posted by: Bob | Jun 2, 2008 9:00:18 PM
I've heard of this tape, too. I'm curious to see if they'll really release it because there are community sources saying that she actually said, "Why did he" not "Whitey". The Clinton camp has supposedly paid someone to doctor the tape, cut out the spaces and make it appear she's saying, "whitey". I mean, the man won't become President, so I don't see why Billary has to make up stuff. I'm ready for her to stop shrilling and just go home.Posted by: Amelia | Jun 3, 2008 8:15:23 AM
