Harry Reid: We Don't Need No Stinking Tourists

The new, thoroughly air conditioned Capitol Visitors Center opened today.  And for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's refined nose, not a moment too soon.

Ed Morrissey notes this isn't the first time Reid has complained about the stench of tourists.

Mr. President, someone wanting to visit the Capitol today, there is no place for them to gather. They gather -it used to be out on the East Front - now they gather on the West Front. And the people who work here joke about you can always tell when it’s summertime because you can smell the visitors.

As a younger man, Reid also exhibited an intolerance for human pungence. (Skip ahead to 2:00.)

"I hate this place. This zoo. This prison. This reality, whatever you want to call it, I can't stand it any longer. It's the smell, if there is such a thing. I feel saturated by it. I can taste your stink and every time I do, I fear that I've somehow been infected by it."
